Diapers can be tons of fun, but disposing of them after the fact isn't always the easiest thing to do. Of course in the best case scenario every used diaper could just instantly be tossed into an outdoor dumpster where storage and smells wouldn't matter, but such a thing isn't always possible.

So for those times when you might need to hang onto used diapers for a brief period before they can be disposed of there are two key things that need to be considered:

• How they'll be stored
• How odor will be controlled

When it comes to storage, it goes without saying that the diapers will need to be put in a place where they'll be out of sight. For this you may want to set up a designated diaper pail or container with a lid. It is a good idea to line this container with a bag that can be easily tied up and disposed of once the opportunity arrives.

Speaking of bags, they're going to be your number one tool when fighting the odor that used diapers can present. Having a sealable pail or container is a good start, but even then odor can often escape. The best way we have found to keep odors concealed is using ordinary white kitchen garbage bags that can be untied when a diaper needs to be added to it and then tied back up afterwards.

If you'd like to further suppress any odors, spray a disinfectant such as Lysol into the bag each time a new diaper is added. Diapers themself can also be sprayed before being rolled up and added to the bag for maximum odor prevention.

Of course, no matter what you do eventually you will have to dispose of your used diapers.We don't recommend hanging onto them any longer than you have to! If you've been using a bag to keep them sealed up, then throwing them out should be as easy as taking that bag and either adding it to your other garbage or just throwing into either a dumpster or garbage chute. Having everything sealed in a bag is also great in terms of being discreet, as others won't be able to tell what it is that you're throwing out.
